Unconventional Ways to Learn Computational Thinking

Overview

Is it mandatory to learn Computational Thinking (CT) through programming? Do we always have to use a digital device when teaching CT?

This seminar will share how frontline teachers from CoolThink@JC participating schools teach CT ‘Concepts’ and ‘Practices’ outside the conventional computer classrooms and use interesting ways to develop students’ CT without computer programming.
Apart from learning CT through unplugged activities, the concepts can also be applied in various daily-life topics, enhancing students’ overall learning ability and social awareness. This seminar will also share how schools develop further their school-based STEM curriculum based on CoolThink@JC framework. A participating school will share how they guide students to use ‘Computational Thinking’ and ‘Design Thinking’ to explore the problem of ‘Food Crisis’.
