Important Strategies for Supporting Young Children's Primary School Transition

Overview
The Department of Early Childhood Education (ECE) of EdUHK, with the donation from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, launched the two-year EdUHK Jockey Club School Transition and Readiness Project in 2021. The Project involves free distribution of 3 sets of evidence-based EdUHK Jockey Club STARt-up Resource Kits to all Primary one students in Hong Kong. The Project also offers free distribution of the boxsets to kindergartens, providing teaching support for kindergarten teachers to facilitate the primary school transition of kindergarten students.
The speakers will introduce strategies for early childhood educators to design educational activities based on the three themes of the boxsets to supporting children’s school transition. Home-school collaboration is crucial to a smooth school transition. The speakers will also introduce ways that kindergartens can equip parents with a positive attitude, the right knowledge and skills using the content of the Resource Kits to help children face the challenges during school transition.
