Pioneering Three-in-one Jumpstarter STEM Education Kit and Home-School-Community Network

Overview

Currently, STEM resources for Early Childhood in Hong Kong are of variable quality. Some are too difficult that are not developmentally appropriate for young children; others are adopted directly from overseas without localisation. Many children’s STEM learning at home, school, and community are not connected.
To address this, Jumpstarter is city’s most comprehensive early childhood education STEM learning package. With 25 issues, the series has consolidated a wide range of local and overseas best practices to design developmentally appropriate STEM activities, covering everyday ‘big ideas’. Jumpstarters also stands out by connecting children’s learning at school and at home. Each three-in-one kit contains a children’s Picture Book, a Teacher’s Guide and a Parent’s Guide which are designed holistically. Jumpstarters features local elements with age-appropriate literary and visual elements to open up opportunities for children to explore STEM in a relatable and fun way. Teachers can be inspired by the Teacher’s Guide to design their own exploration activities while reading the Picture Book with children. After school, parents can continue the exploration with their children using the Parent’s Guide and Picture Book. Taking exploration of young children into the community, teachers and parents are also encouraged to take children to STEM hotspots.
