School-based Adapted Music Curriculum for Students with Intellectual Disabilities

Overview

The speakers of this seminar will introduce the strategies for developing and implementing school-based adapted music curricula for students with intellectual disabilities in special schools according to the principle of ‘one curriculum framework for all’, as suggested in the learning objectives for music curriculum for students with intellectual disabilities (P1 to S3) by the Education Bureau in 2017. The content will include:
1. A curriculum development model that can guide teachers to design expected learning outcomes that align with the learning targets and learning objectives of the curriculum framework of the Education Bureau; and
2. the use of adapted musical instruments, adapted music notation, multi-sensory instructional strategies, and computer-assisted technology to facilitate students with intellectual disabilities to develop their musical skills and creativity.
