Overview

Using children’s funds of knowledge in curriculum planning and teaching implementation has gained increasing attention from researchers studying ethnic minority children. The explorative practices of integrating the experiences and skills of ethnic minority children’s homes and communities into teaching are worth further exploration.

The speakers will report on the explorative practices of two kindergartens in connecting with minority children’s families in the teaching and learning activities to promote meaningful learning. Based on the identified artifacts and other forms of resources used in the learning process, further exploration of the development of knowledge and skills embedded in children’s learning experiences will be conducted. It is hoped that the shared practices and analysis will contribute to the improvement of teaching and learning processes and generate further interest and exploration into this potential research area.
